Introduction
This statement sets out Shrewsbury Colleges Group arrangements for managing the access of providers to students at our three campuses for the purpose of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer within the context of our structured careers programme.
Shrewsbury College Group Career Education and Guidance
Shrewsbury Colleges Group students are entitled:
- To access an embedded programme of career education and guidance to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge, enabling them to make considered educational and progression decisions, consistent with their individual abilities, needs and potential, in the context of a complex and changing world
- To access a range of impartial Careers activities, events and encounters held both at the College campuses and at external locations which enable them to explore the range of progression and careers options available to them
- To access impartial careers guidance from a qualified Level 6 Careers Adviser
Opportunities for access
Shrewsbury Colleges Group is proud to work with a range of partners to deliver our Careers activities as part of our impartial approach to Careers Education and we ensure that our students have access to a range of employers and education and training providers at the relevant points during their study programme.
A number of events, integrated into the college careers programme, will offer providers an opportunity to come into college to speak to students and/or their parents/carers.
Arrangements for external providers
Please speak to our Careers Leader to identify the most suitable opportunity for your organisation and to discuss the practical arrangements of your request.
External providers will be required to follow Shrewsbury Colleges Group policies including, but not limited to, the Safeguarding Policy and External Speakers Policy. Details of these policies are available from the Careers Leader on request.
External providers are also invited to consider how their involvement will support Shrewsbury Colleges Group in meeting the Gatsby Benchmark for Colleges and this will be discussed with the Careers Leader.
