An interest in learning more about reupholstering a chair.
During the course you will reupholster a piece of your own furniture (from a footstool size to a single chair the size of Parker Knoll chair). You will be breaking the chair down to a point where it can be recovered.
As we only take small groups there is the time and scope to support and encourage everyone.
Apart from the course fee, there are costs involved for materials (you will need to supply all of your own materials & fabrics etc). If you are unsure of the the type of materials, the tutor will assist you during the first lesson.
Students can provide the following:
A dining chair;
Single seat or wing back chair - if this is what you are bringing, you could unpick at home, but please keep the old material for patterns, (number each piece of removed fabric in the order you removed it), this will give you more time on the course to concentrate on the skills required to reupholster your chosen piece.
Enough fabric to cover the seat;
Chalk paint in any colour of their choice.
Recommendation: It is recommended that students wear appropriate clothing to the activity as removing fabric from an old chair can create a lot of dust. This is recommended throughout the course. It is also recommended that a mask and goggles be warn due to the dust. It is also recommended that if you have a small footstool to reupholster, that a second piece of furniture be brought in.
This course requires a piece of furniture no bigger than a dining chair.
Please note: we are unable to store your piece of furniture - you will be requried to bring it each week, the hope is that you will work on your piece at home as well as during the class.
No concessions available.
