An interest in learning more about reupholstering a chair.
During the course you will reupholster a piece of your own furniture (anything from a footstool to a single chair the size of Parker Knoll type chair - nothing larger please). You will be breaking the chair down to a point where it can be recovered.
We only enrol small groups on this course, giving you the time and scope to support and encourage everyone.
Apart from the course fee, there are costs involved for materials (you will need to supply all of your own materials & fabrics etc). If you are unsure of the the type of materials, the tutor will advise you during the first lesson.
You will be expected to provide the following:
A piece of furniture of your own to work on, you could unpick it at home (if necessary), but please keep the old material for patterns, (number each piece of removed fabric in the order you removed it), this will give you more time on the course to concentrate on the skills required to reupholster your chosen piece. (If you are unsure, please seek advice from the tutor on the first evening).
Enough fabric to cover your piece of furniture (again if you are unsure, please see advice from the tutor).
Chalk paint in any colour of your choice.
Recommendation: It is recommended that you wear appropriate clothing to the activity as removing fabric from an old chair etc can create a lot of dust. This is recommended throughout the course. It is also recommended that a mask and goggles be worn due to the dust. It is also recommended that if you have a small footstool to reupholster, that a second piece of furniture be brought in.
This course requires a piece of furniture - anything from a footstool to a Parker Knoll / armchair (nothing too big).
Please note: we are unable to store your piece of furniture - you will be requried to bring it each week, the hope is that you will work on your piece at home as well as during the class.
No concessions available.
