  • Who is it for?

    This is a two year, part time course.  The aim of the course is to develop and train enthusiastic learners who are interested in working in the construction sector. It has been developed by employers and professional bodies to ensure it fully supports entry onto the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment or a range of relevant specialist degrees; as well as other construction career pathways at technician level such as design/architecture, construction supervision/management.

  • Entry Requirements

    Four GCSEs including maths, English and Science GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above or a vocational course at Level 2.

  • What does the course involve?

    Construction principles, design and technology as well as health and safety. The course has a strong emphasis on technician-level theoretical principles and enables further vocational study at Level 3 and upwards. The content is focussed on the practical applications of construction design, structural requirements and technology, health, safety and welfare and the legislation around it, organisational processes and risk management. Learners will be required to engage with construction sector employers as an integral part of the course.

  • How is the course assessed?

    There are four mandatory units. Two units are externally set and marked. Two are internally set and assessed using a range of assessment methods including assignments, reports, phase tests, individual projects, surveys, risk assessments and method statements.   • How much does it cost?

    In addition to any course fees a full or partial contribution to any trips must be made, the cost will vary depending on the details of the trip. 

  • Additional Notes

    Equipment: we highly recommend that you have a 4GB memory stick or hard drive with a high capacity, lever arch file, note pad, protective footwear, and waterproof coat.
