HNC in Leadership & Management (Full-time)

Course Specification

Students with a keen interest and/or experience in either business management, marketing, finance and/or human resources who wish to embark on a career in this field. A widely recognised and highly-valued business qualification that enables you to develop a range of skills and gain the relevant experience necessary to progress a career in business.

The course will help you develop leadership and management skills, knowledge and understanding to achieve high performance in the business environment. You’ll also learn skills that will provide you with insights into business operations as well as the opportunities and challenges presented by a global marketplace so that you can create and deliver operational plans that achieve goals and objectives. In addition, you’ll increase understanding of the major impacts that digital technologies have upon the business environment, data security and management, and how to effectively use technology in an organisation.

There are several options for entry to this course:
-   48 UCAS points
-   One A Level or BTEC National Diploma / Certificate
-   Relevant work experience in a business department role

The course is validated by Edexcel and delivered over one year on two days per week. The programme is run on a 4 semester basis from September to June. The HNC is a broad-based business qualification and consists of the following modules:

•   The Contemporary Business Environment
•   Marketing Processes and Planning
•   Management of Human Resources
•   Leadership and Management
•   Accounting Principles
•   Managing a Successful Business Project
•   Operational Planning and Management
•   Digital Business in Practice

Your work will be continually assessed internally throughout the course. The assessment will depend upon the particular module being studied. Typical assessment methods include assignments, developing portfolios and presentations.

Students will receive ongoing one-to-one guidance and support. Learning resources are provided and available from home via the college’s Moodle system. Our dedicated Student Support Tutor for Higher Education also provides support with assignment planning, organisation and time management, presentation skills, reading and notetaking.
