  • Who is it for?

    If you are just starting your own business or have been thinking about doing so but don’t know where to start, then this course is for you. The course is designed to give you an insight into basic business and accountancy skills and will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of how to develop these.
  • Entry Requirements

    There are no specific requirements for entry onto this course, however you should have a keen interest to develop business and accountancy skills.
  • What does the course involve?

    The course will look at a wide range of areas, including legal responsibilities, marketing and barriers to business, introduction to HMRC, registering for VAT and cash flow forecasts.

    It will also cover key must know principles (Sales and Marketing, Finance and Legal Requirements).

    • Product / range / services offer
    • Pricing strategy options (Cost Volume Profit)
    • Promotion and advertising to win new customers
    • Creating a competitive advantage
    • How to beat larger competitors (USPs)

    • Profit and loss

    Legal Requirements:

    • VAT (levels and requirements)
    • Sole trader or limited company – For and against
    • Legal obligations
    • Employer obligations

    The course has been designed to run in 3 stages. This allows individuals to work at their own pace. You will have the option to develop your knowledge further with steps 2 & 3 depending on your individual requirements.

    No assessment is required on the course.
  • What do I do next?

    You are able to enrol at the College in person or by phone on 01743 342333 between 9.00am-5.00pm Monday - Thursday and 9.00am-4.30pm on Friday. You can also enrol and chat to staff at our advice / enrolment events which happen throughout the year or use our Live Chat facility.
