The occupation involves carrying out skilled work, primarily using timber products on a construction site, creating and installing building components. A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities. An Architectural Joiner will normally be employed in a workshop producing timber based building components and other architectural products, such as doors, windows, units and staircases, which are then transported to construction sites to be installed by site carpenters.
As an Apprenticeship standard, you will be assessed against your knowledge, skills and behaviours which includes working towards the level 2 Diploma for Wood Occupations (in your chosen pathway.)
Full details can be found here
You will be required to attend College one day a week as well as regularly visited by your assessor for the duration of your apprenticeship for assessment against your knowledge and skills, in readiness for an independent End Point Assessment.
Typically this takes 2 years to complete.
Level 2 Bench Joinery
Previous Institution: Ercall Wood School
I came to study at here because it was highly recommended. The teachers are currently helping me work towards the SkillBuild competition, which means doing extra projects in my spare time.
Level 3 Bench Joinery
Previous Institution: Thomas Adams School
I grew up around carpentry as it was my Grandad’s profession and I want to join the Royal Engineers, so this subject is right for me. I really enjoy the visualisation that comes with bench joinery, being able to see a product and know that you can create it yourself.
This course is linked to roles within the NHS.
