This programme aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills to cut men’s hair into a variety of fashion looks.
You will have a keen interest to progress into the industry or a Level 2 C&G Award in Cutting Men’s Hair
The course will include a mixture of theory and practical skills. The knowledge acquired by you will enable you to understand how to choose suitable cutting techniques and tools, work carefully and efficiently and to give aftercare advice and information on further salon services. The skills developed by you will include layering, club cutting, scissor over comb, use of clippers, texturising/thinning, using a razor and freehand. You will also undertake skills development in beard maintenance.
The units will be assessed by observation in a commercial salon environment, and by online exams. You will need to source clients for practical assessments.
It is highly recommended you purchase a kit to practise in and out of college. Order forms are available at enrolment.
Smart black clothing must be worn in salon sessions.
You will gain a City and Guilds Award in Cutting Men’s Hair.
