This qualification is a level 3 technical qualification, it has been developed collectively with employers, professional associations and trade bodies to set the standard and content. The qualification is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed make-up artist.
You must be 17 years old or above. A minimum of three GCSEs at grade 4 or above preferably in Maths, English and/or Science and a Level 2 beauty qualification or relevant academic qualification.
This commercially recognised qualification will help you master a variety of specialist make-up techniques and knowledge that will equip you to seek employment or further training within the make-up industry.
You will be guided throughout by our expert teachers who help with the listed techniques all within our dedicated specialist beauty therapy facilities.

You will need to purchase a kit/uniform - please enquire at your interview. We will guide you through the requirements for Maths and English which are integrated into the overall programme. We will help you to develop good communication and personal presentation skills.
Assessment is carried out with practical observations in the salon, oral questions, written assignments and externally set online/ written exams. A portfolio of evidence is submitted to show a range of continual assessments at the end of the course.
It is an expectation of professional practice to wear a uniform whilst in salon sessions. It is advisable to purchase a kit to allow you to practise skills out of College. Order forms are available at the Group Interview event. Make-up kits will also be required.
Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare you for employment, you may choose to study further by completing a specialist qualification at Level 4, such as an HNC/HND in Business. You will have the opportunity to compete in national and regional competitions, cross-college events and in the community.
As part of your development, we work with you to complete some treatments outside of the college. Our course also gives you the opportunity to attend shows, productions and to gain portfolio evidence to showcase your skills.
