Kathryn Harvey
Diploma in Womens Hairdressing
Studying part-time has allowed me to train towards my career goal, as the course works well around my childcare support. Also, having the chance to work in Evolve, the College’s commercial salon, gives you the opportunity to learn the business side of salons. After completing the Level 2 I want to continue with my Level 3 and then become a mobile hairdresser.

Stephen Jones
Level 2 Award in Cutting Men’s Hair
I was a plumber and wanted a career change. My friend who runs a barber’s inspired me to join the part-time Cutting Men’s Hair course at Shrewsbury Colleges Group. The teachers and facilities were great and learning in the evening meant I could carry on with my day job. Four months after completing the course I had opened The Fade Inn, my own Barber’s in Shrewsbury.

Jazmine Morris
Level 3 Hairdressing
Previous school: Shrewsbury Academy
Hairdressing is something I have wanted to do since I was little and I came to SCG because the atmosphere felt good when I came to look around. The staff are friendly and helpful – they will always encourage you to achieve your goals. I’ve really enjoyed working with real clients during training and being given the chance to work in Evolve Salon which is a nice, modern salon. After College I would like to become a mobile hairdresser, or work in a salon. I might run my own business in the future.
