This course is aimed at those students with no prior salon experience. Our expert teachers will guide you through the requirements of this course and help you progress onto the Level 2 and 3 courses in our industry style facilities. Alternatively, this course can help you gain an apprenticeship within a hair salon or barbers.
You will work in the Training Academy assisting Level 2 and 3 students and could work in Evolve, our on-campus salon, where you will develop employability skills. You will enhance your skills and knowledge by also undertaking reception duties, shampooing, conditioning, styling, blow-drying and teamwork.
You will continue to develop your Maths and English skills and study GCSEs in Maths and English if you have not already achieved a grade 4.

How is the course assessed?
Assessment will be continual in the form of practical observations on paying clients with online exams and written coursework assignments in our Hair and Beauty Training Academy.

Level 1 Hairdressing
Previous school: Grove School
I chose to study hairdressing because I like to meet new people. When I had my first client I was nervous, but after the experience it was good and it feels normal now. I want to apply for Level 2, then Level 3 and after I want to open my own salon.
