Who is it for?
This course is ideal if you are passionate about a career in the media industry. You will gain a broad range of creative and technical skills across areas of media production such as film, animation, game design, photography, graphic design, 3D animation, and concept art. Our experienced teachers will support you to develop your core creative skills and software expertise through workshops and guided studio sessions.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of three GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English.

What does the course involve?
You will be introduced to the processes and skills involved in creative media through a series of creative projects.
Topics will include:
- Research and planning techniques such as storyboards, sketches, and concept art
- Production skills using a range of equipment, such as cameras, audio recorders, and greenscreens
- Post-production skills using industry-standard software, such as Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, and Blender
- Reflection skills to help you set targets to develop your skills in future projects

How is the course assessed?
You are assessed over the four units during this qualification. Each assessment unit is highly practical and based on assignments set and marked internally by the teacher.

How much does it cost?
During the course most of the equipment you need will be supplied, however you will need to pay for printing costs beyond the £15 each student receives at the start of the year and some educational visits may also incur a charge. We advise that students have some form of storage media (USB Flash Drive or SD card) for back-up and transport of work in order to complete homework.

Additional Notes
You can progress from this course to study one of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media courses that are offered at Shrewsbury Colleges Group. These two-year courses will provide you with the opportunity to continue to develop your creative talents and will provide you with the necessary skills for careers in the industries or allow you to continue your studies at higher education level.

Further Information
There will be an opportunity to attend the ‘Create Your Future’, a UCAS Convention in Manchester to find out about creative courses at university.
All creative media students will have the opportunity to take part in the college’s end-of-year art show, where you can display your work to the public.

I feel passionate about Creative Media and I really enjoy film editing and adding effects. I want to continue with film after College, either at university or in employment. You get to do so much on this course including film, game design, graphics, photography and editing, plus you can pick your own specialism at Level 3.
