The Sports and Leisure Industry is still one of the most buoyant employment areas in the UK. There has been a steady growth in Health, fitness and sports/leisure centres throughout the country and indeed, Shropshire.
Level 2 courses can be an ideal ‘fresh start’ for many students, allowing them to reach their full potential, perhaps often after having achieved disappointing GCSE results at school. Many of our Level 2 students complete the course and then obtain work such as leisure assistant within sports/leisure or fitness facilities in the local area, whereas others choose the Armed Forces or non-uniformed services.
Attaining suitable grades, you can progress onto the Level 3 in Sports, Outdoor Adventure or Public Service programmes (a minimum of Merit profile is normally required).
Preferably grade 4 in two subjects including PE and/or Maths, English, or Science - particularly if you want to progress to a Level 3 course. You should have a real interest in sport and be involved in school teams, sports clubs, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, etc.
This course provides a platform to lead to more specialist areas of study within sport such as outdoors and fitness. This one-year course based at the London Road Campus is taught by industry experts and specialist teachers who are passionate about their subject and they will guide you through the requirements of the subject.
You will complete a total of 7 units including:
In addition, you will study GCSE English and Maths, if you have not already achieved a grade 4.
Other assessment methods include, presentations, self-reflection, booklets and portfolios and video.
If selected, you will be able to access the Pro Direct Academy team games.
Attaining a minimum of Merit profile means you can progress onto the Level 3 Sport, Rugby and Football pathways, Fitness, or Outdoors.
Our expert teachers will guide you through the elements of the various courses we offer and teach you the skills and knowledge you need to develop your career in sports. Our specialist facilities will aid your development and allow you to explore.
