  • Entry Requirements

    You will typically have a selection of GCSEs in the grade range 2 to 5, though individual circumstances will be taken into account. This is a one year programme.

  • What does the course involve

    You will choose four subjects from the list below (three if you already have a grade 4 in both Maths and English Language). The BTEC courses are studied at Level 2 and are the equivalent of one GCSE at grade 4 or above.

    • Maths (compulsory if a minimum of grade 4 not yet achieved)
    • English Language (compulsory if a minimum of grade 4 not yet achieved)
    • Applied Science BTEC Award
    • Health and Social Care BTEC Award
    • Creative Media BTEC Award
    • Business (Retail) BTEC Award

     

    The study skills programme is designed to support you in the transition to study in a college environment and prepare you for your next steps. You will receive support and mentoring with your subject work as well as developing generic study skills. The Tutorial Programme will consist of group sessions and 1:1 meetings with a Tutor. This member of staff will oversee progress and provide support throughout the Two Plus year.

    You will also be expected to participate in at least one Enrichment activity in College. This choice is made at Enrolment and includes options such as Work Experience, Volunteering, Sport and Music.

  • How is the course assessed

    You will be assessed mainly by end of year exams in the GCSE subjects and predominantly by continuous assessment via coursework in the BTEC Award qualifications.

  • Additional Notes

    This Study Programme can be used as a basis for progression into A Level / BTEC Level 3 study programmes, Apprenticeships or Employment. Students who left this year:

    • 66% progressed to an A Level programme
    • 24% progressed to an Extended Diploma
    • 7% went on to an Apprenticeship
    • 3% gained employment

  • What do I do next?

    You can apply online via the APPLY NOW button and then add an additional 2 or 3 subjects to make up your academic programme.
