Hazel Ducker, Apprenticeship Practitioner for Adult Health and Social Care
I worked for MACA, in mental health community support for 15 years, completing my Level 3 in promoting independence in 2004. The role included supporting people in the community to be as independent as possible. I then expanded from a role as an in-house assessor to doing this full time. I went on to qualify as an IQA (IV) in 2006 and was peripatetic assessor/IV for the organisation. I have worked in Shrewsbury Prison, providing education to the prisoners, running courses to promote them into employment on release. I went back to community support where supported a diverse range of people with problems ranging from bipolar, depression, schizophrenia and various forms of dementia, with a varied age range.
