Students returning to college
For students returning to college in September, their timetables will be available from Wednesday 1 September on their ProPortal account. Subjects will not start until Wednesday 8 September, in the afternoon. Therefore only second year students with a lesson in block F will need to attend on Wednesday 8 September.
For returning A Level students, please read the information about how your timetable will differ from your first year. Please note that most lessons for returning A Level students will be from 8 September.
Higher Education Students and Apprentices
The timetable for the Higher Education students will be available week commencing 6 September, but students will be emailed directly with further information.
HE courses will start the week commencing 13 September.
Apprenticeship courses begin the week commencing 13 September and employers will inform the apprentices of which day they will be required to attend college. Apprentices starting this year should report to the main reception at the London Road Campus where they will be met by their accessors on their designated day.
COVID Protocols at college
Shrewsbury Colleges Group working with Shropshire/West Midlands Public Health are offering all students the opportunity to get a vaccination at one of the college’s campuses over the next two weeks.
The college will have a total of four COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics on the three different campus locations during the student Induction Days. Each clinic will offer the Pfizer vaccine for people aged 16 and over on the following dates and times:
- English Bridge Campus. Thursday 9th September. 8.30am to 4.30pm
- Welsh Bridge Campus. Tuesday 14th September. 8.30am to 4.30pm
- London Road Campus. Wednesday 15th September. 8.30am to 4.30pm
- London Road Campus. Thursday 16th September. 8.30am to 4.30pm
Further details on the arrangements can be found here.
We are providing details of what will be expected of students attending any of the three campuses from September 2021. Face coverings will be required to be worn in all indoor communal areas and in some specialist areas.
We need all students to have completed two Lateral Flow Device tests before term starts. The results of these tests need to be shared with the college via the COVID test results form available here.
Young people living in Shropshire Telford and Wrekin aged 16 and 17 are now able to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at one of the local vaccination clinics. We would encourage all our students to get vaccinated.
Further details of the college’s COVID protocols and Frequently Asked Questions can be found here.
College going Cashless
From September 2021, the college will be going cashless across the three campuses. This means that we will no longer be accepting cash as a method of payment for food and drinks bought at college.
We will be continuing to accept payments via debit and credit cards and have now also upgraded to enable you to add funds to your student ID card so that you can pay for anything you need to purchase in college including in the cafés.
Details on how to initially add funds and how to top up your student ID card are available in the frequently asked questions webpage that we have set up along with other information about how the system will work.
Part of the change that this new cashless system brings is that we will be phasing out ParentPay and replacing this with a new system called REMsPay. You will also be able to pay for your trips, resources and visits as well as topping up your card to use in the cafés or elsewhere on campus.
Further details on your REMsPay account and log in details on the new cashless system will have been sent to you via email. Please lookout for this email.
Car Parking at London Road Campus
During the summer, various improvements have been made to improve campus access, signage, and security at the London Road Campus.
The development will include the introduction of entrance and exit barriers, additional perimeter fencing, improved signage, and new pathways. This investment will mean that the students and users of the London Road Campus will have a safer and better experience when using the campus facilities.
If planning to park onsite, please ensure that you get your Parking Permit from reception and provide your vehicle registration at the start of term so that you have easy access through the vehicle barriers. For full details of the changes at London Road Campus are available here and we also have a FAQs page on the car park changes.
Parent/Carer Consent Form
Students need to ensure that the parent/carer consent form has been completed by their parents/carers ahead of the start of term. This form provides permission information for students to attend day/residential trips (if applicable for the course) as well as permission for students to complete work experience and placements as well as other types of work-related activities.
The link to the form is here.
Please ensure that the form is submitted by Wednesday 1 September.
We will be holding an Induction Festival on the following dates:
- English Bridge Campus – 9 September 2021 - Wakeman Hall (12pm until 1.30pm)
- Welsh Bridge Campus – 14 September 2021 - Priory Hall (12pm until 1.30pm)
- London Road Campus – 15 and 16 September 2021 - Hub Marque (12pm until 1.30pm)
