A heartfelt congratulations from everyone at Shrewsbury Colleges Group to this year’s students who have completed their studies at our Higher Education Centre.
In a brilliant ceremony that began in the town centre, students in caps and gowns were led on a procession through the town, soaking up their moment, before arriving at the historic St Chads Church for a 2-hour ceremony, culminating in the conferral of their qualifications.

The ceremony was attended by 83 students, accompanied by friends and families, and featured addresses from Principal and CEO of SCG James Staniforth, Councillor and Mayor of Shrewsbury Becky Wall, and Dr Joanne Ritchie, Consultant at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and SCG alumnus, as well as closing remarks from Vice Principal Mark Brown.
Attendees were also treated to a performance of Madrigal by Philippe Gaubert from current A Level students, and two musical performances, one from our Performing Arts Choir, who re-enacted Raise Your Voice from Sister Act the Musical, and one from our Level 2 Music Technology Students who gave a rendition of Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.
Commenting on the event, Michelle Dawes, Director of Higher Education, said:
“The Shrewsbury College graduation is the perfect way to celebrate with the students at the end of a long educational journey.
“The students have achieved a higher level of qualification that will set them up for their working life.
“Their celebrations through the day with friends, families and supporters is evident in the vibrant atmosphere around the town as students gather for the procession.
“As a college, we are incredibly proud of the students and their achievements and wish them well in the future.”
