Congratulations to SCG student Mia Jackman who has made it to the finals of Worldskills for Health and Social Care!

Mia saw off competition from 360 students in the first round to see her through to a regional decider against 80 others.

The next test came in the nationals, where Mia and 7 other students competed at Wigan and Leigh College for the chance to make it to the finals.

Mia must now prepare to demonstrate effective communication and a number of caring skills to support the needs of vulnerable service users in Health and Social Care at the finals in Manchester, taking place 14-16 November where a gold medal will see her get the opportunity to represent the UK internationally in Health and Social Care.

Mia commented: "I had a great time representing the college at each stage of the [Worldskills] competition and it was fun putting the skills I have learnt into practice. I'm really looking forward to competing at the finals and hope I can get the gold."

Everyone at Shrewsbury Colleges Group would like to wish Mia good luck for the finals and hope she can bring home the gold medal!
