We’ve been teaching Art & Design at the College since 1855, in fact, we started life as an art college so we know we have a fine heritage in this area and are proud of it. We moved into HE in Fashion, Performing Arts, Music and Art & Design around a decade ago. We offer a range of creative vocational and employment-focussed courses to help you get ahead in a wide range of creative industries. From 2019 will also be running a HND Art & Design.

Our highly-skilled creative lecturers include practising, award-winning and exhibiting artists and performers and those with years of industry experience under their belts. They are adept at linking their vocational research-based activities to their teaching.

We have established an excellent reputation in the fields of Performing Arts, Music, Fashion and Art & Design, providing a challenging and supportive learning environment that enables our students to graduate as industry-ready creative professionals. There are links with arts practitioners both locally and nationally that regularly feed into Creative Arts programmes as well as with local universities.

Previous students have progressed to first-choice universities including St Martins, Goldsmiths University, London School of Fashion, The Slade and Birmingham City University, gained international performance work and employment in the West End or started-up as designers/makers running their own craft-based enterprises or join the creative industries.

HNC in Music Technology

I chose to study at Shrewsbury Colleges Group because of the brilliant resources and teaching. It’s also great doing a HE course closer to home because I am familiar with my surroundings and have all my family and friends nearby. I am aware that there are less women in the music production industry, but I know I have the ability to succeed. I’m excited for females in the music industry because things are changing
