  • Who is it for?

    This programme is designed to give you a broad knowledge and understanding of the Construction Industry and to provide you with the technical skills training to achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating. Progression from the Level 2 course would be to the Level 3 Diploma in Painting and Decorating or an Apprenticeship.

  • Entry Requirements

    You must be working at Level 1 or above in Maths and English, demonstrate commitment and motivation and be willing to study theoretical and practical components of the course. Prior to being accepted students will be required to undertake an interview with a member of staff.

  • What does the course involve?

    Vocational Units (All units are mandatory):

    • Carry out safe working practices in construction; Information, quantities & communicating with others
    • Building methods & construction technology
    • Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms
    • Preparation of surfaces (2)
    • Apply paint by brush and roller (2)
    • Apply wallpapers (2)
    • Specialist decorative finishes (2).

     

  • How is the course assessed?

    Your work is continually assessed throughout the course with each unit having a practical and theoretical assessment task. In addition, you will be required to pass an end of year exam in order to successfully achieve the diploma.

  • How much does it cost?

    You must provide your own overalls, safety shoes, tools, classroom equipment and contribute to the cost of any additional enrichment activities.

    If you are aged 19 or over tuition fees may be payable on enrolment, plus materials fees.
