• Accreditation may be given for relevant work experience or prior learning for mature learners.

The HNC is a broad-based business qualification and consists of the following modules: Core modules: Marketing Essentials, Business Environment, Human Resource Management, Management and Operations, Management Accounting and Managing a Successful Business. In addition to the six core modules there are two optional modules. These include Business Law, Innovation and Commercialisation, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and Financial Accounting.
Most of your work will be continually assessed internally throughout the course but one unit is set externally. The assessment will depend upon the particular module being studied. Typical assessment methods include assignments, developing portfolios, presentations and examination.
Students will receive ongoing one-to-one guidance and support in progressing assignments. Learning resources are provided and available from home via the internet through the college's Moodle system. HNC students are entitled to utilise the college's dedicated Higher Education study room.

HNC in Business
The HNC has provided me with a thorough understanding of business fundamentals, which I have been able to translate into my working life as a Marketing Executive. Having started in this career less than two years ago as an entry level Communications Coordinator, I have already received a promotion and have undertaken increased levels of responsibility.
