This course is for you if you wish to develop your creative writing. You will investigate a range of techniques, a wide range of texts, literary critique and develop your skills of evaluation.
There are no formal entry requirements. An interest in wider reading and writing is desirable.
You will investigate a range of literary techniques, including: sensory imagery, genre, character development, realistic dialogue, plot and structure, through evaluating a diverse collection of texts, including your own writings. This course will also consider literary critique and build skills of evaluation. The course topics are ‘revisiting familiar things’ and ‘writing from experience’ and are designed to be flexible enough to accommodate individual writing styles and preferences whilst providing a challenge.
There are no formal assessments. However, the course will be assessed formatively throughout and the course aim is that you will produce pieces of writing for each course topic.
There are no required additional materials or resources. However, you may wish to purchase books for personal use as the course progresses. (You will need writing materials/media)
