What does the course involve?
This course is ideal for those who want to work as plumbers or in other related disciplines in the building services engineering sector. This qualification is a major step towards becoming a fully qualified plumber. This course builds upon the knowledge gained after the completion of the Level 1 Plumbing course and further develops the skills and techniques learnt. Our experienced teachers will help guide you to progress to a career within the plumbing trade.
As well as learning the science and theory behind systems such as hot and cold water, you will also perform a variety of practical tasks including the installation of copper pipe and radiators and drainage techniques. A combination of practical and theory-based work provides the footing needed to succeed in the plumbing industry. The course also forms part of the plumbing apprenticeship framework which can be used towards the completion of a full plumbing apprenticeship at Level 2. All students must attend English and Maths (if grade 4 has not already been achieved) at either GCSE or Functional Skills level.
How is the course assessed?
Each unit will be assessed by end of unit multiple-choice online tests supported with practical assessments throughout the year.
How much does it cost?
You will be expected to provide your own overalls, safety shoes and contribute to the cost of any additional enrichment activities. If you are aged 19 or over materials fees are payable on enrolment.
Upon the successful completion of this course, you will have the option to progress to the Level 3 course in Construction & the Built Environment. An alternative option would be to go to do an apprenticeship with a plumbing company. We can help you with this option, please go to www.scg.ac.uk/apprenticeships
Our expert teaching and fantastic facilities will aid your progression. We also offer our students the opportunity to enter local, national and international competitions including the UK SkillBuild competition.

Level 2 Plumbing
Previous Institution: Church Stretton School
It’s great seeing the improvements I’ve made on the course and I’m looking forward to moving on to an Apprenticeship. This is a great trade to work in as there are lots of opportunities to specialise in different areas of plumbing.
Level 2 Plumbing
Previous school: home schooled
I chose this course as I want to follow in the family trade. I’ve had work experience with my father, so I knew that plumbing was an area I’d like to work in. This is a very enjoyable course, covering lots of skills, as well as giving you the opportunity to work with new materials. After this course I plan to go on to an Apprenticeship.
