  • Who is it for?

    This programme aims to provide you with the specialist knowledge, skills and understanding to work within the exciting and dynamic travel and tourism industry. This area of work is expanding both at home and abroad. Employment can be found in a variety of sectors including travel agencies, tour operations, accommodation, transportation, visitor attractions, conferences and exhibitions to name but a few. Upon successful completion of the programme, you can go on to study for a Level 4/5 qualification in Travel and Tourism or related areas such as Event Management and Cruise Line Operations.
  • Entry Requirements

    At least 4 GCSE passes at grade C (4) or above including English and Maths or a Level 2 Diploma in Travel & Tourism or business related area. Mature students over 21 are encouraged to apply without the formal qualifications.

    The Level 3 Extended Diploma is a 2 year course. There will be an opportunity during the first few weeks of the course, following discussion with your tutor, to transfer to the Level 3 Diploma, which is a 1 Year course if this is thought to be more suitable for you. Units for this course may differ from those described for the Extended Diploma.

  • What does the course involve

    Students follow units that could include:-
    • Investigating the Travel & Tourism Sector
    • The Business of Travel & Tourism
    • The UK as a Destination
    • Customer Service in Travel & Tourism
    • European Destinations
    • Long Haul Travel Destinations
    • Specialist Tourism, working as a Tour representative

    Workshops in Airline Cabin Crew and Resort Representative are offered to students.


    English and Maths if not already achieved a C grade

    A Levels are available to run alongside some of the Diploma offers, these are assessed on an individual basis but please check at your Group interview. Options should appear when you apply for this course online.
  • How is the course assessed

    The units are internally assessed through assignments that are set and graded by the subject tutors. This may take many forms but can include written reports, presentations, booklets or role plays.
  • Additional Notes

    There are costs associated with the course not only for books and uniform but also for visits. You will be given opportunities to take part in the various Residential Study Visits and work experience abroad, some are subsidised and others are available at full cost.
