- Apprenticeship funding is available for any member of staff who has a significant learning and development need
- Advanced Learning Loan is an alternative way to support learning, whereby the learner borrows the money for the qualification they need

Sally Ross, Teaching Assistants and Child Care Assessor
Sally graduated in 1981 with a teaching degree and has over twenty years of classroom experience, mainly in Primary Education and more recently, Early Years. She has a strong interest in Language and Literacy development and also a passion for the creative aspects of the curriculum. After a fulfilling and successful teaching career, Sally knew she wanted to work with those starting out in their careers so as a result, qualified as an assessor in 2012. She joined Shrewsbury College in September 2016 and is ideally placed to support apprentices with their Teaching Assistant and Child Care qualifications.

Caroline Goldsmith, Early Years Internal Quality Assurer
Caroline worked in care and child care settings for her entire career, before moving into the world of adult education and quality assurance. Over the years, she has held a variety of positions including, Housemother in a small residential special school for children with partial hearing, Support Worker in a supported living home and a Senior Project Worker for children and young people 5-18 years with a range of learning and physical difficulties and complex needs. Caroline has really enjoyed her varied career. Now in education, she finds supporting the development of others, many of whom had not achieved a qualification before, to be really satisfying.
