A PGCE student studying at Shrewsbury Colleges Group (SCG) has won the Educator of the Year award at the Dyslexia Awards.

Dyslexia Awards

Rosie Woodcock, who teaches Animal Management at North Shropshire College, was nominated for the 2020 awards by her teacher at SCG, Michelle Dawes and her mentor at Walford College.

The Dyslexia Awards were held virtually at the end of November where it was announced Rosie had won Educator of the Year title.

“It has really boosted my confidence and it has been lovely to have been recognised, as it can be challenging especially when preparing resources for my students,” said Rosie.

“I’ve really enjoyed my course and the support I have received from my teacher Michelle has been outstanding.”

Michelle said: “I nominated Rosie because she has been a brilliant student despite her dyslexia. She has never seen this as a barrier to her studies.

“Rosie is curious and questions things with reason and tenacity. She is enthusiastic and motivated to achieve. She is bubbly and a popular member of the group,” she added.
