In a tense encounter on the final day of the season, SCG secured the league title on points difference with a 41-31 victory over Moulton College.

The team ended the season with 8 wins from 10, level on points with Brooksby Melton College but with a superior points difference of +235 to +171.

In the final game of the season, SCG held a slender lead of 34-31, knowing that defeat would hand the league title to Brooksby Melton. Under real pressure from the opposition forwards, they managed to spring a counterattack from their own half and secure the winning try through Reuben Lovatt, much to the relief of teacher Dale Smallman, who commented:

“This was a fantastic effort by a small squad over a long season, which saw us travelling away to Cirencester, Hereford, Leicester, and Northampton.

“Having been beaten on the penultimate game of the season in the last minute, it was rewarding to see the team bounce back on the road, scoring a match winning try in the last few seconds with the whole season on the line.

“Big thanks to Simon Edwards the backs coach, who has worked so hard with a talented group of players.”

Everyone at the college is immensely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by all players and staff.
