  • How much does it cost?

    The course fee is advertised on the website. This course if free for full time students and those who have not achieved previously achieved a C grade or above. Fees stated are for enrolment for the current academic year only. Courses which run for more than one year may be subject to fee changes.

  • Who is it for?

    GCSE in maths has always been well recognised by employers and education institutions and in today's competitive employment market it is more valuable than ever. As well as being a benefit to you in your daily life, gaining this qualification will make your CV more attractive to employers and enable you to progress onto other courses both here at Shrewsbury College or other institutions. You could progress onto an AS or A2 Maths qualification or complete additional GCSEs such as English Language.

  • Entry Requirements

    No formal qualifications are required but an interest in the subject and regular attendance.

  • What does the course involve?

    The course is split into units that cover statistics, probability, number skills, algebra, geometry and trigonometry and is assessed by three external examinations - functional, calculator and non-calculator papers at the end of the course.

  • How is the course assessed?

    External examinations.

  • Additional Notes

    You may need to obtain some books and relevant equipment such as calculator, projector, compass etc. to assist your studies and complete some work in your own time. This course can be studied alongside your main qualification or part-time on a Tuesday evening or Friday morning.
