Statement concerning the wider re-opening of SCG 13th July 2020.

As we approach the end of term, Shrewsbury Colleges Group would like to inform students, parents and the general public about our plans for the summer and into the new academic year in September 2020.

The current term ended on Wednesday 8th July for students studying remotely and for most students attending college at London Road Campus.

We will continue to be open on Tuesday 14th and Tuesday 21st July for the vulnerable students who have been attending college since lockdown and for students to complete their technical and professional qualifications.

The latest guidance from the Government is that adult students taught in groups can now return to an educational setting at this time. This means that we can invite Adult students to return to our campuses to complete technical and professional courses and qualifications from 13th July. We will contact Adult students to invite them into College.

Details for part-time and evening courses due to start in September and October 2020 will be finalised in the next few weeks and we will issue further communications concerning arrangements as soon as possible.

Plans for September 2020
Following the change in Government guidance released on Thursday 2nd July 2020, we are working to make arrangements for all of our students to return to ‘on campus’ teaching while maintaining student and staff safety.

We are looking carefully at several options for the full re-opening of the College in September. This will be the full opening of all three campuses with normal timetables and all students attending.

We will continue to be guided by the Government and Public Health advice with regards to the social-distancing protocols and how these requirements can be accommodated across the three campuses of Shrewsbury Colleges Group.

Dates have been released for students who will be joining us in September and who might want to take exams in some of their GCSEs subjects to improve their Centre Assessed Grades. The exams will take place in October. These exams will have to be taken at the students’ previous school and cannot be sat at SCG.

Students who are currently with SCG and are expecting their A Level results in August 2020 will also be given the opportunity to take exams in October if they wish to try and improve their Centre Assessed Grades.

Results Days
As we come to the official end of the academic year, we want to share with students and parents what will happen about results day and how we will be able to continue to provide information and support to students and parents over the next few weeks.

We have updated our Frequently Asked Questions section of the website with some additional information regarding the wider opening of the college and related matters. This can be accessed here.
