A Wolverhampton welding supplies company has donated over £2,000 worth of protective equipment to engineering students at Shrewsbury Colleges Group (SCG).

Engineering Equipment donated to studens
The Engineering department has received 40 welding masks from G E Welding Supplies, that will be used by the students on fabrication and welding courses

The donation has enabled each student to have their own personal welding mask to use for the academic year.

Andrew Lee, Curriculum Leader for Engineering and Director of Employer Engagement said: “Coronavirus has changed the way many industries work and we reflect those changes in college as we offer our students real-life working environments in which to learn.

“We are so grateful for this generous donation which will allow our students to be able to continue their learning safely by having their own individual PPE during the pandemic when it would have been impossible to share equipment.”

Mike Perks, Director at G E Welding Supplies said: “This is a very hard time for industry and we felt it was important to give something back and help the students of the future while they learn vital skills to help propel the industry and country forward in the future. We were delighted to supply the welding masks.”
