Hollie Rippard, 17, and Cherry Lockley, 18, both studying Level 2 Men and Women’s hairdressing; competed in the Concept Hair Learner of the Year competition.

The competition gives the next generation of hairdressers and barbers the chance to be recognised for their hard work and skills.

Hollie, from Shrewsbury, entered the Level 2 Hair-Up category and Cherry, also from Shrewsbury, entered the ‘Red Carpet’ category. Judges selected the top 20 entries in each category with both girls making it through to the next stage of the competition in March.

Sammy Morris, Hairdressing teacher at SCG, said: “The Concept Hair Competition is a great opportunity for students to work to real life briefs and gain valuable experience. We’re all very proud of Hollie and Cherry and all their hard work.”

The Grand Final will take place virtually this year with finalists entering photographic evidence by Friday, 12 March. Entries will then be judged and six shortlisted finalists in each category will be chosen and the winners announced at the Virtual Awards Evening on 26 April.
