Shrewsbury Colleges Group celebrated two award wins in a week.

The first award win came on Wednesday 21 June when the college was awarded the National Health & Wellbeing accolade at the annual Sixth Form College Associations awards evening. This was followed at the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards on Friday 23 June 2023 where the college picked up the Commitment to People Award.

The first accolade, the National Health & Wellbeing Award, recognised the college's commitment to prioritising the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of its staff members. The college's initiatives and programmes promote work-life balance, stress management, and professional development which creates an atmosphere where teachers and support staff feel valued and supported and therefore can excel in their roles of teaching and supporting students.

The second distinction, the Commitment to People Award, saw the college go up against other businesses in the Shropshire area. This award looked at the ways in which organisations consistently exceed customer expectations, measure feedback and act upon feedback as well as their ability to adapt to the current economic challenges. The award acknowledges our dedication to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment that empowers both staff and students.

Principal of the college, James Staniforth said: ‘We are delighted to have received these awards and both national recognition within the country’s sixth form colleges and recognition outside of the education sector through our fantastic Chamber of Commerce. Our commitment to our students and to our staff are two sides of the same coin as we want to be the college of choice for both studying and working. We strongly believe that a thriving college is built on the foundations of mutual respect, collaboration, and continuous growth. By providing opportunities for professional development and fostering a culture of open communication, we ensure that staff members and students feel empowered to achieve their full potential.’

He continued: ‘We are immensely proud to be honoured with these prestigious awards. They validate our ongoing commitment to the well-being and success of our staff and students. These achievements reinforce the college's mission to provide a transformative learning experience that goes beyond academics, preparing students for a bright future while fostering a sense of belonging and personal growth.
