Two teams of engineering apprentices from SCG have secured their place in the WorldSkills UK Finals in November 2019 after designing and building a remote control crane from scratch – they are two of only six teams selected across Great Britain to make it to the national finals at the NEC.

Last year, the cookshop team from AGA Rangemaster Group set SCG Art & Design students a challenge to create a design to be used on their textile products. The winner of that competition, Georgia Hudson, recently travelled to Porto, Portugal to see her design printed on fabric.

There were lots of smiles on the banks of the River Severn this morning, as students from Shrewsbury Colleges Group received their A Level results – with 100% pass rate from 24 subjects.

It is well recognised that higher education students are amongst the most discerning group of consumers, particularly when it comes to their chosen course and college. It is for this reason that the annual National Students Survey (NSS) is so revealing when it comes to understanding the true performance levels demonstrated by higher education establishments.

Students studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism at Shrewsbury Colleges Group decided between themselves, that Krakow, Poland was the place for their overseas residential trip and chose COGO Travel as the company to take them.

For the fourth year running Shrewsbury Colleges Group restaurant, Origins, has secured a Highly Commended Rosette Award from the AA College Rosettes Scheme for the highest accolade it can achieve.

The College restaurant first gained the award in 2016 and no other College restaurant in Shropshire has one.

Music Technology students at Shrewsbury Colleges Group were rewarded for their efforts at their annual awards ceremony on Thursday - with one scooping the main accolade, named after former Charlatans’ drummer, the late Jon Brookes.

The Jon Brookes Award for Endeavour was established after Mr Brookes, former drummer with world-renowned British Indie band The Charlatans, became affiliated with the College when he helped to launch its Roland Academy for Music in 2009.

Students graduated yesterday (Friday 5) from Shrewsbury Colleges Group, when they collected a range of degree-level awards in a prestigious ceremony at St Chad’s Church in Shrewsbury.

Led by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Phil Gillam, a line of 95 mortar boards and graduation gowns made its way from Shrewsbury Market Square to St Chad’s Church in the annual Shrewsbury College graduation parade.

A Level and vocational students from Shrewsbury Colleges Group have put on their combined end-of-year Art and Design show for the second time since the College’s merger.

The English Bridge campus of SCG has been taken over and filled with inspiring student work. Over ten different creative courses have displayed their work for The Show 2019. The rooms are filled with drawings, photographs, paintings, videos, designs, textiles and so much more.
