A Level students from Shrewsbury Colleges Group picked up Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards at Buckingham Palace – something only 10% of those who set out to start it actually achieve.

Eight former students from SCG received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards from Paralympian and TV presenter, Sean Rose, after Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, heard many of the success stories.

The Hairdressing students of Shrewsbury Colleges Group were able to showcase their talents at the College’s annual hair competition last week.

Hairdressing students from all levels took part in the end-of-year hair competition and had the chance to show off all the skills they had perfected during their time at college. Each student worked on their own theme and were given free-reign to create their masterpieces.

The Outdoor Activity students from Shrewsbury Colleges Group are tackling the triple challenge for their fundraising activity this year.

Each year, students studying the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Outdoor Activities put take on a challenge to raise money for a charity of their choosing. Last year they tackled the Yorkshire three peaks and May 14-16 they are heading to Wales for the Snowdon triple challenge.

Shrewsbury Colleges Group held their Celebrating Student Achievement Awards, which will be the first of many as it becomes a permanent fixture in their college calendar. SCG wanted to celebrate the exceptional students from the 2017/2018 year and reward all their hard work. Stand-out students who had gone the extra mile during their time at the College, from all areas, were nominated by their teachers.

Following on from the successful Made in Dagenham, Footloose and Back to the 80s at Theatre Severn, Performing Arts students from London Road Campus will be hitting the stage again with 9 to 5 the Musical.

Seven Shrewsbury Colleges Group students have been offered places to study at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

The students, who hail from all across the county, are currently studying A Levels at the colleges’ English Bridge and Welsh Bridge Campuses and will take their exams this summer before heading off to study at Oxford or Cambridge.

Shrewsbury Colleges Group students will dazzle audiences for three nights as they perform the ELECTRIFYIN’ musical, Grease.

Students from all three campuses are members of MaDA, Shrewsbury Colleges Group’s enrichment program for Music and Dramatic Arts. They have been working hard at rehearsals to get ready for their performance in Wakeman Hall next week. The famous musical, which is narrated using the songs we all know and love, will be performed from March 27 to 29 (Weds to Fri).
