Origins Restaurant

Our commercially run and licensed restaurant in Shrewsbury gives students the opportunity to work in a professional environment and stay ahead of industry trends.

Led by qualified, experienced chefs and front-of-house professionals, students learn about the principles of cookery, compatibility of flavours, food service and complimentary wines - all to make your meal at Origins an enjoyable experience.

AA College RosetteOrigins holds the ‘Highly Commended’ Rosette award for the quality of its food and standards of service. Origins has also been voted one of the top eight college restaurants in the country.

Opening Times

Telephone bookings can only be made during our opening hours. Tables of 8 or more require pre-booking and a £5 pp non-refundable deposit.

Tuesday, 9:00am-3pm: For Tea & Coffee and Lunch (bookings taken 12 noon-1pm).

Wednesday - Thursday, 9:00am-9pm: For Tea and Coffee, Lunch (bookings taken 12 noon-1pm) and Dinner (bookings taken 6.30-7.15pm)

Friday, 12:00pm-3pm: For Tea & Coffee and Lunch (bookings taken 12 noon-1pm).

COVID 19 Origins restaurant has safety measures in place to make your visit as safe as possible, whilst still being an enjoyable experience. We are following the government’s guidelines for restaurants to help contain the virus and it is compulsory that we take all customers’ details for the Covid-19 track and trace programme. Upon booking your table at Origins, please include the names and contact details of all members of your party in the comments section of the booking form.

These events are organised and developed by our students as part of their coursework taking into account equality, diversity and sustainability.

Each theme night consists of five courses, priced at £25.

We can offer a discreet, confidential environment to conduct any type of meeting. The facilities are perfectly suited for a high level executive board meeting, a full on networking meeting or just tea and coffee with a potential client.

Funeral wake receptions and gatherings

We appreciate that during this difficult time you need an event handled with sensitivity and discretion. Origins can offer funeral reception lunches, buffets and afternoon teas, all at a venue close to local churches and the Shrewsbury Crematorium together with ample car parking and a superb service, we’re the perfect location for family and friends to meet following a funeral service.

Private functions

Whether it’s a birthday party, a wedding breakfast or a christening, we can produce menus to suit your needs.
You will enjoy a friendly, welcoming service as you are waited upon by our hospitality students, who take a genuine interest in their customers. In the kitchen, students with a passion for cooking will be employing a variety of techniques and cuisines, under the watchful eye of the chef lecturers, to bring that extra something to your table.

We can cater for most parties at very reasonable rates.
