  • Who is it for?

    This course is for you if you want to gain relevant skills for employment and/or progression in Computing and Information Technology. You will learn about the use of Information Technology in business and industry and also about the professional skills and knowledge you will need. After the course you can either stay in F.E. and continue your studies on a Level 3 Diploma in either ICT or a related subject or use your qualification to make the move into employment or an apprenticeship.

  • Entry Requirements

    You need two GCSEs at grade 3 or above, preferably including English or Maths.

  • What does the course involve?

    You will learn about ICT and computers such as how to install computer components and software, build websites, learn how to use a range of ICT software packages, design a game and set up and test a computer network. This course enables you to improve your job prospects by obtaining a nationally recognised qualification in Information and Technology together with the opportunity to develop your Maths and English skills in order to achieve GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications.

  • How is the course assessed?

    It will be assessed over the course through practical activities, project work, some tests and assignments.

  • How much does it cost?

    You are expected to provide a USB pen or hard drive to hold your data and the college also provide Microsoft 365 cloud software so you have Microsoft Office software at home and online storage to hold your lesson notes and portfolio materials.

  • Additional Notes

    At the college there are the following facilities: An extensive range of modern computer equipment; dedicated teaching laboratories; a well-equipped Resource Centre, available to you outside normal class times; an on-line learning system you can get to from anywhere with an Internet connection.
