Who is it for?
DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION
If you are wishing to pursue a career specialising in digital design, this route enables students to learn about designing and creating a range of content for media channels by developing skills in graphic design, video production and image-making. You will develop your own unique voice as a content creator, and promote audience interaction for brands and YouTubers in a wide variety of industries.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language, or a Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills at Merit or above.

What does the course involve?
DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION
You will have the opportunity to communicate ideas for clients using digital photography, illustration and audio to develop skills and knowledge sought after by a multitude of industries. Design campaigns for social media, branding, advertising and websites using industry standard equipment and software. You will explore tools and techniques of graphic design such as digital image-making, typography, digital illustration, motion graphics, podcasting and branding. As a Creative Media student, you will have access to iMac suites, graphics tablets, DSLR cameras, a dedicated film/photography studio as well as audio production facilities to produce your work.
Year 2 will allow you to focus on your specialism, apply for university courses, create CVs and build a portfolio of work to help you progress to higher education and careers in this area.

How is the course assessed?
The Extended Diploma consists of two years of study, each comprising of two units of practical coursework. Progression to year 2 is dependent on successful completion of year one (540 Diploma). All assignments are internally assessed and are designed to give you the research, practical and communication skills needed to progress in the industry in future. Assignments will be completed through practical work, written reports, presentations, blogs and vlogs. On successful completion of the two-year course, you will attain an Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice.

How much does it cost?
During the course most of the equipment you need will be supplied, however you will need to pay for printing costs and some educational visits may also incur a charge. We advise that students have some form of storage media (USB Flash Drive or SD card) for back up and transport of work in order to complete homework.

Additional Notes
DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION
Many of the skills and techniques learned can be used in other areas such as film and TV, animation, illustration and product design; as well as leading to careers in games design, 3D modelling and animation, concept art, illustration, esports, sound design or story writing, amongst many others.
All of these pathways could lead to further study at a higher level, an apprenticeship, employment, or your own freelance career.

You will have the opportunity to attend ‘Create Your Future’, a UCAS Convention in Manchester, and the Careers and Apprenticeships Show at the NEC
All creative media students will have the opportunity to take part in the college’s end-of-year art show.

I have always enjoyed concept art and design, so this course was recommended to me. At the Open Evening everyone seemed knowledgeable and inviting. I will be progressing onto Level 3 next year and then I would like to explore concept art and drawing, possibly getting a tattoo Apprenticeship.
