There are no formal entry requirements as you will work at your own level; however a literacy level of Entry 3 is advisable. All candidates will be interviewed for suitability. You must be fully committed, reliable and punctual.
This course will help you gain the skills required to progress on to further studies within college. The focus is on developing academic skills for entry onto Level 2 programmes. You will have the flexibility to design your own programme of study, depending on your needs; working with the Student Co-ordinator in your area.
Your study programme will include Employability, English and Maths and time will be spent in curriculum areas working towards qualifications. Your choice of subject area can vary across a range of college curriculum, such as catering, hair, beauty, construction, engineering, customer service, accountancy and many more, subject to availability in those areas.
You will receive a certificate acknowledging your success at gaining the course outcomes and that you have participated in a structured and recognised course. You will also be able to gain a full Level 1 or Level 2 City & Guilds accreditation in 'Employability Skills' where topics covered include; communication skills, goal setting, speaking and listening skills, team building, presentation skills, CV writing, interview skills, health and safety, customer care, rights and responsibilities, maintaining work standards and tackling problems.
Your completed units/Awards will be assessed and form a portfolio towards the final qualification. You will take online or paper based exams in English and Maths.
If you are aged 19 or over you may have to pay some tuition fees. This can be clarified by ringing Admissions on 01743 342346.
By studying on this pathway you will be able, upon successful completion, to apply to progress onto higher level qualifications at the College, Traineeships, Apprenticeships and employment.

You learn lots of vital skills on College Ready like how to conduct yourself in interviews and manage your time and coursework. I really enjoyed the course and became more confident with my presentation skills. It helped me get onto the Level 2 Performing Arts course and I can’t wait to start the Level 3 next year. I have always loved acting and singing. When I was younger I would always be dressing up and expressing myself through improv. College Ready helps you decide what you want out of your future – it is a very useful course.
ESOL (16-18) - Employability, FS Maths and ESOL
