The Academy offers industry-standard treatments and services for the students to learn all aspects of Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy.

You can book treatments with the students at a price that reflects that they are still in training, but with the reassurance that all services are overseen by experienced lecturers.

The Academy offers all of the treatments you would expect in a commercial salon. For example, we provide beard trims, facial massage, colour correction and creative cuts.

Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy students at the Academy regularly get involved in events to help out in the community or to raise money for charities.

A Level Film Studies (Psychology, Drama & Theatre)
Previous Institution: Meole Brace School

Film Studies is such a varied and interesting subject with a mix between creative and academic. We work in a relaxed environment and the teachers amazing knowledge make it great fun. We get the chance to go on great trips, like Harry Potter Studios and New York. My favourite film that we have studied is A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night – a Persian-language American vampire western. I will be pursuing an acting career once I have completed my A Levels.

A Level Politics (Law and Religious Studies)
Previous school: Priory School

I’m interested in Law and how the government works and I want to join the police after College, so Politics was a great A Level for me to do. I enjoy learning about how voting behaviours have changed through time. Politics is a rewarding subject that can be frequently used in your everyday life.

A Level History (French, Biology and Chemistry)
Previous Institution: Belvidere School

I really enjoyed learning modern history as it can be made applicable to news today. You pick up a useful skill set doing A Level History and the lessons are interactive and informative. The essay writing and critical thinking helped me with my application to Oxford University and I have accepted a place at Christ Church College, Oxford to study Philosophy.

A Level Classical Civilisation (Music, Drama & Theatre and English Literature)
Previous Institution: Newtown High School

I didn’t do Classical Civilisation at GCSE, but it looked really interesting at the College open day. It is a great mix of English, Drama and History. I want to do Classics at Durham University. I came here because there were better subject choices, which were flexible. I feel more independent here and it is a nice step between school and university. I really enjoy looking at Greek comedy.

A Level Film Studies (English Literature and Classical Civilisation)
Previous school: Lacon Childe School

Film Studies has equipped me with various analytical skills which are particularly useful for essay writing. However, more importantly, it has taken me on a cinematic adventure, establishing a love and appreciation for film I previously didn’t possess.
