Campus facilities

SCG offers fantastic facilities to support your study and leisure time across our three campuses, as well as subject-specific facilities that are unique to each site.

The English Bridge Campus has been developed to accommodate all the Creative Arts courses. Welsh Bridge has specialist classrooms for science subjects, and at London Road, there is a range of specialist workshops with up-to-date equipment.

All three campuses use a range of new technologies in the classroom, including apps, tablets, and augmented reality with free Wi-Fi and the ability to bring your own device.

From a range of cafés and shops to social areas, sports facilities, and our first-class Learning Resources Centres, we are always working to listen to you and make our facilities the best they can be. More information on each of our facilities can be found below:

Student facilities that can be hired

Our London Road, English Bridge and Welsh Bridge campuses have a variety of facilities that can be hired out of term-time, during the evening and at weekends.

London Road Campus has over 450 free onsite parking spaces. You might want to hold your dance or drama class at our theatre and dance studios or host your business or organisation’s meeting or exhibition in a number of flexible spaces, including our Clayton Hall which seats 200.

If you’d prefer a town centre location, we have facilities at English Bridge Campus including a spacious main hall with a stage, which is suitable for a variety of events and seats 240, a small performing arts theatre and a number of classrooms.

Our Lettings Procedure outlines costs and if you have any more questions or wish to book, please contact our Commercial Manager, Ted Coxon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Clayton Hall (London Road Campus)

The large 293m2 hall was named in memory of former Governor, John Clayton. The hall can accommodate over 200 people seated and 350 standing and can be catered with a cold buffet prepared by our college catering staff. It’s an ideal space for meetings, awards, exhibitions, AGMs, fashion and performance shows and charity events. It has a stage and a sprung floor making it ideal for dancing, which was demonstrated when we hosted the English Youth Ballet. The hall offers facilities for presentation media, lighting and great acoustics.

The Enterprise Centre (London Road Campus)

A versatile space ideal for interviews, seminars, meetings, small exhibitions and events. It is available for hire all year and offers a range of media for presentations. The bi-folding doors make the space flexible for around 30 people seated or 50 people standing.

Main Hall (English Bridge Campus)

Our spacious hall is approximately 200m2 and can accommodate 240 people seated and is an ideal space for meetings, awards and AGMs and a variety of other events. Catering facilities can be arranged, depending on your requirements. Lighting is available for the staged area and there is a PA system for up to 8 microphones and sound input capability from a computer or other devices. There is also a projector available and a drop-down projection screen.

Classrooms

As you can imagine, we have a multitude of different classrooms for hire within Shrewsbury Colleges Group. Some of our clients include the NHS, Swim with Style and Bonbonniere Chocolates. We are flexible when it comes to setting up the rooms and we will set them up exactly to your specifications. All our classrooms come with media projectors and screens, along with interactive whiteboards. We can accommodate parties from 5 to 35 with prices set at £16 per hour.

Level 3 Plumbing Apprenticeship
Previous school: Bishop's Castle Community College

I chose this course as I want to follow in the family trade. I’ve had work experience with my father, so I knew that plumbing was an area I’d like to work in. This is a very enjoyable course, covering lots of skills, as well as giving you the opportunity to work with new materials. After this course I plan to go on to an Apprenticeship.

I wanted to do something hands-on when I was older and not to be stuck in an office – I didn’t enjoy A Levels. I have enjoyed learning more in-depth techniques on Plumbing Level 3 as it helps you understand the practical and put it all together. You also gain the confidence to complete more jobs. I am currently working with SG Roberts and will keep that going whilst I do my Level 3 Gas next year. Eventually I think I would like to go into teaching and do the same things that the staff at SCG have done for me.

Level 2 Plumbing
Previous Institution: Church Stretton School

It’s great seeing the improvements I’ve made on the course and I’m looking forward to moving on to an Apprenticeship. This is a great trade to work in as there are lots of opportunities to specialise in different areas of plumbing.
