Who is it for?
The T Level Foundation Programme provides a high-quality route onto T Levels for students who would benefit from the additional study time and preparation that it will give them before they start their T Level. Our T Level Foundation Programme is a one-year course designed to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to support progression onto, and success on, a T Level.
-
Entry Requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including Maths and English. Applicants should be ready to complete a work placement.
-
What does the course involve?
There is a T Level Foundation Programme to prepare you for each T Level subject area. You’ll learn about the different T Levels within this subject area and their career opportunities, so that you can decide on the correct T Level for you. T Levels have a broad range of potential progression outcomes.
The college will be offering a Foundation Programme to allow students to move onto the following T Levels:- T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction: Electrotechnical Engineering
- T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning For Construction: Surveying and Design for Construction
-
How is the course assessed?
A wide range of assessment methods will be used throughout your programme, including presentations, group work, assignments, observation of activity, scenario projects, and external assessments which will develop your confidence for the success on T Levels.
-
Additional Notes
Successful completion of the Foundation Programme for your preferred T Level route will enable you to study that same T Level route.
After T Levels, you could progress straight into a skilled job or continue your studies via an apprenticeship or higher technical qualification.

Level 1 Painting & Decorating
Previous school: Shrewsbury Academy
Painting & Decorating is a good trade to train in and offers great business opportunities afterwards. The tutors are good and I have learnt so much here – I have especially enjoyed learning how to wallpaper.
Andrew Holloway
HNC in Construction & the Built Environment
Previous Institution: Shrewsbury Academy
I wanted a complete change in career and had always considered becoming an architect. When I came to an SCG Open Evening, tutors suggested the route of Higher Education in Construction. It is a great hands-on course and I especially enjoyed learning about CAD, as this is a skill I need to become an architect.
Esther Dickson
Level 2 Painting & Decorating
Previous school: Telford College
My favourite thing that I’ve studied is decorative skills, which involve doing different techniques like stencilling and marbling. It’s quite intricate work and it was a challenge to learn, but I’m really proud of what I’ve done. You’ve just got to try new techniques out and know that you’re going to learn how to do it successfully when you’ve got a tutor as friendly and helpful as my tutors. My dream is to have my own interior design studio, specialising in working with small spaces and proving that you don’t need a lot of room to have a great home.
