Shrewsbury Colleges Group is delighted to announce that the college won the Wellbeing in the Workplace Award at the annual Shropshire Business Chamber Awards night on Friday 10 June.
The award recognised the college for work supporting both the physical and mental wellbeing of staff. The judges for the award saw that the college has the health and wellbeing of employees embedded in its day-to-day culture through robust wellbeing policies and a commitment to healthy work-life balance.
College Principal James Staniforth said: “We’re thrilled to have won this prestigious award for Wellbeing in the Workplace. There were fantastic organisations shortlisted for this award and therefore we’re delighted to have been judged as the winner of this category. I’d like to offer my congratulations to all of the winners and shortlisted companies at the awards night. It was hugely impressive to hear about the great work that they do in our local area.”
Donna Lucas, the college’s Group Vice Principal for HR & Professional Development, added: “The college employs over 600 employees across three campuses and works hard to ensure proactive and reactive wellbeing for our workforce. As an example, since 2012, the college has held five development days annually, including a wellbeing day, and has a comprehensive Mental Health at Work Plan, as well as 18 trained Mental Health Champions.”
She continued: “Staff survey results are overwhelmingly positive. ‘I feel valued in this organization’ increased by 28% and ‘I would recommend the college as a good place to work’ increased by 25% over a five-year period.”
